An extensive network of hiking trails and footpaths make exploring Mt. Rigi on foot a real pleasure. Families in particular will appreciate the countless roofed-over barbecue areas, children’s play areas and trampoline park. The adventure starts with a ride on Europe’s first mountain railway, built in 1871. This is even more exciting on Saturdays and Sundays in July, August and September when there is a steam train operating between Goldau and Rigi Kulm. With two cog railways from Vitznau and Goldau and a panorama cable car from Weggis, all kinds of round-trips are possible here.
